For many Israelis, the voice of actress Dalia Friedland, is the soundtrack of their childhood memories. Her children's stories, songs and skits are ties that bind generations of Israelis.
Inspired by the movie "Bubblegum Memory", which documents Friedland's loss of memory juxtaposed against her everlasting voice recordings, sound artist Lior Pinsky created the work Telephone of Thoughts.
We are used to thinking of a story as an orderly plot with a beginning, middle and end. But what happens when one of the pieces is omitted? When a story starts from the end, or ends in the middle? When the voice that tells the story - is confused?
You are invited to enter a journey into memory and oblivion. Come into the living room, relax in an armchair, put on headphones, and dive into an alternative universe – a carnival of a nonsense story - made up of pieces of Friedland's recordings: sketches, stories, songs and plays, preserved in the Bella and Harry Wexner Libraries of Sound and Song at the National Library of Israel.
