Entrusted with collecting, preserving, and passing on the collective memory of the Jewish people and the State of Israel, The National Library is documenting the events of October 7, 2023, and the war that followed them, for us and for posterity. The scale of the civilian documentation efforts that took place during and after these events in Israel and overseas is unprecedented. Ruthi Fransdorf, founder of the Wartime Documentation Initiatives Forum, Sigal Aryeh Erez, director of the Israel Archives Network project, and Maya Gan-Zvi, head of the October 7th Massacre and War Documentation Project at the National Library, will discuss the transition from civilian mobilization to a national documentation project.
