The touching and tragic love story of Leonard Cohen and his Norwegian muse, Marianne Ihlen. The two met and fell in love in 1960 on the picturesque Greek island of Hydra, in a bohemian community of expatriate artists, musicians, and writers. The film follows their journey from those simple, humble days on Hydra, a time of “free love” and open marriages, to later years, exploring how their love evolved after Leonard’s musical had taken off.
DocuText Festival invites you to a screening of “Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love,” which traces the extraordinary love story of legendary singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen and his muse Marianne Ihlen. After the screening, enjoy an unforgettable concert by Ivri Lider, who will sing Leonard Cohen’s songs, accompanied by the Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem.
